To everyone who has a DISCOVER CARD take out your scissors and cut it up. We wish we would of never had this credit card. We used to use the card when we traveled and then take a few months to pay it off.
My husband who was the only one who had a Discover card was the victim of ID theft. We hardly used the card so we didn't catch the theft right away in about Dec. 1999 or Feb. Or March. When we realized that the card had been stolen out of his wallet and the paper trail started to catch up to us, we reported the card as stolen and filed a police report in our small town their idea of a report was to give us a business card with the officers name and phone number on it. Back then ID theft was not a big issue as it has become in the last few years. We called Discover Card as soon as we realized the card to be gone. From the first they treated use like we were lires. We told customer service at that time that we had a few thousand dollars on the card from a recent trip that we had taken, but we didn't max out the card over the $10,000.- limit. We told them at that time we would be willing to pay the amount that we owed, but we were not going to pay what was done after the theft accured.
We are still fighting over the account to this day we have tried everything but go bankrupted. Because of their bullying and their scare tactics we have paid $6,000.00 on a bill that we only owed a few thousand on (we finally got out our canceled checks to see how much we have paid them) the worst thing about this, is that we felt obligated to pay the money we had spent on our vacation. So, Discover maintains that we are responsible for the entire amount even though we turned in a report of ID fraud. They 100's of customer service people that we have dealt with over 4 years maintian that we never did this and act like this is the first time they have heard of ID theft? Our bill even with paying $6,000.- we still owe over $10,000.- to this day. Because every month we accrue over the limit charges and late fee's even when we aren't late on the inflated payment that they have been demanding and their out of control interest rate. We are now to the point with Discover that they want to take legal action against us. I am writing this because we tried to do the honest thing and pay the money that we owed.

Discover is a ripoff company and they should be investigated for their fraudulent credit practices. Everytime we have contacted them we never talk to the same person even though they tell us to call back and talk to so & so. When we call the number that we were given, no one knows that person and they state that nothing was documented on their computers. Right! A big coorperation has no documentation of where the money is or who their customers are? We are sick of Discover and we are not going to pay them another dime. We had ID theft, Discover was not the only company that was hit when the theft accured. MBNA, Wells Fargo, Fleet & Chase Manhattan all dealt with us and excused the debt as fraud or we paid what we owed and the other companies charged a $25.00 or $50.00 fee according to their contracts. They all dealt with it in a perfessional & legal manor. They never hounded or threatened us. They actually investigated the fraud and excused most or all of the debt. Discover has done nothing but turn us into the credit reporting agencies ruining our credit, they have never investigated the ID theft or worked with us in solving this problem. We are now turned them in to all 3 credit agencies and demand that they investigate Discover and their credit practices, because what they have done to us should be against the law.

All we ever wanted to do was the right thing and pay what we owed. We never dreamed that by doing this we would be the bad guys and have to live through this living nightmare.

If you can cancel your cards with this company and tell them you don't want their 1% or 2% cashback the price is to high to pay if you ever have a problem with this company.
