Discover Card is relentless! They are like theCredit Card Mafia or something. It is apparent to me, after speaking with numerous people & seeing all the complaints about Discover Card online, that this company DOES NOT want to help the consumer in times of financial crisis!
The majority of creditors will work with you in times of crisis, but not Discover Card! What's worse is Discover Card's tactics!!! They are in clear violation of the "Fair Debt Collection Practices Act." Consumers have a RIGHT to NOT be HARASSED, period! Even in times of financial crisis!
I would like to file a CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT against Discover Card, because I feel that this is the only way to STOP their illegal collection practices! They call 8-10 times a day, leave at least 2 messages, pose as other people to get info, ask others that answer the phone "what relation they are to me, etc..." My best friend said that a Discover collections rep actually called & threatened her & her husband, used profanity, said that he knows where they live & have contacted their neighbors about the kind of people that they are, etc... My sister has been going through Debt Settlement to try & pay off their debts & Discover Card FLAT-OUT refused to work with them! Instead, they decided to garnish her wages, resulting in much less payment per month. They also sent the account to collections & then took it back! (I thought that was illegal!).
So many people are complaining about Discover Cards unethical & illegal practices! Can't this company be STOPPED? We all need to ban together & bring forward a CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT against Discover Card!
If Discover Card treated people with dignity & respect, they would have a much better success rate.
