Practically everyone on this forum talks about wanting the old shows back. I was hopeful that the new Disney Channel show Jessie would be a solution to the problem with kid's tv today. It stars Disney's girl Debby Ryan as the nanny Jessie who leads her ethically diverse charges through life while using her experiences both good and bad to figure it out herself. What kid wouldn't want a beautiful, fun loving Nanny helping them through life. I loved that there is actually an older character who could call the shots and lead the story. New concept in the modern Disney channel.
I have some problems with the direction I see this show taking. It's disturbing how the Ross kids are increasingly putting down Jessie and making her the butt of the jokes. The first episode led me to believe that Jessie was going to be the modern day Marry Poppins combined with Charles in Charge. It was refreshing, heartwarming and I think gave a sense of security for kids. Lately it seems to now be morphing into every modern Disney show formula where the adults are idiots and the kids call the shots. It looks like Season 3 promises to get worse according to the new announcement the kids are navigating young adulthood while putting their nanny in entertaining situations. Seriously? Disney takes a premise that could actually change what everyone on this site is complaining about and waters it down to be like every other Disney show. Priceless.
