On 12/10 I was paying bills online. One of them was $109.21, but I didn't put in the decimal, which was my fault, and it went through as $10,921.00. I do not have that kind of money.
I called the bank immediately. They said it was my fault and that they were going to draft the $35.00 overdraft fee. And they did, on 12/14. Now I have $38.00 left in my account for the week. Gas and food always run that close.
Then on 12/17 the bank drafted another $35.00 for the same transaction and would not refund it. $35.00 may not be a lot of money to a lot of people, but that is all I have to get me and my kids to the next payday. I called about the mistake. They knew it and still charged me two overdraft fees. How is that legal? And I thought transactions over $10,000.00 were supposed to be verified?
Please tell me what I can do. Thank you.
