Allstate insisted we do repairs to our property or they would cancel our insurance. $1500 later, they cancelled us.
The west side Allstate office is run by an agent who keeps her files and notes in a pile on a desk and can never find anything, which is unfortunate for the people she insures.
I received a letter from Allstate stating I needed to repair my garage. I called them, and they informed me it needed a new roof by the first or they would not renew my policy. I said fine, I had a new roof put on, and I went and dropped off my receipts as proof. I was told they would be by. The first came and went, and I got a call from my mortgage company informing me I was in default of my loan for having no insurance. I called my agent, and she informed me she had cancelled my policy 6 days prior and had informed my mortgage holder, but was unable to get ahold of me.
Evidently she couldn't find my policy (of 3 years) in that pile in her office, so she didn't have my address.
So I am left with repair bills that were unneeded, and I was without insurance. I thought they could not cancel your policy if you are paid up and not informed. Plus I got to deal with about 10 unfriendly calls from my mortgage holder, and I was left scrambling for insurance.
