My husband & I just signed up w / Dish Network about a week ago, and from the beginning has been a nightmare. I called and asked about their service and if there are any specials and the agent I spoke w / was quite nice, but gave me so much information, that I don't recall the agent mentioning about a 24 month contract. I could swear I heard the 12 month instead, as well as 3 months free movie channels. I had no idea what I got myself and my husband into. Then the technician arrive to install the satellite, made a mess, and not organize the wiring. He then proceeded to mumble about our new service. He literally was at our apartment for over 2 hours. I called to speak to a manager/supervisor and was ensured we will receive a call back that same day and no phone call. My husband finally had to call from his job and was also told there's nothing they can do for the weekend and we should call back during the week. Customer service does not exist w / Dish Network. We asked to cancel our service even though it has only been a week, and was told, "Unfortunately since you signed up, you cannot cancel without paying the cancellation fee of $400 something". Holy cow! I understand having to pay the installation fee but over $400???!!! My husband was not happy, especially being told to add hdtv is an additional $400! We want so badly to end our service w / Dish but the early termination fee is unacceptable when we JUST SIGNED UP A WEEK AGO! I told the representative there's got to be something that can be done to waive the termination fee and I was told it's impossible. That is most definitely NOT customer service. They won't work w / us-they would rather offer us a discounted price for hdtv! Being stuck w / Dish is an unhappy, terrible experience. What an unfortunate way to start the holidays.
