Windstream Keep on Charging After they Port Your Service

This is my response to the Windstream Customer Feedback Request when they kept charging me after porting my service to another provider:

I was overcharged for several months a year or two ago by Nuvox, treated rudly by customer serivce and ever since then have waited for the 3 year contract to expire. When it did I started a new service with Deltacom who requested the service move 09/29. I already paid for October in advance. Windstream continued to bill me for service you did not provide and now say it's $1800. You are a bunch a thieves I am in the process of posting this complaint on the internet and if there is a FCC location plan to post there as well. You owe me for the October $400. Your customer service did not even have my telephone number in the system because it was with Deltacom and continued to bill. When the bill doubled in November I started calling and then there was the need for written cancellation orders, then it needed to be on a letter head. You should have stopped billing and refunded the overpayment for October. I still can't tell if you stopped billing because the cost is more every time I see a statement. Now you are saying a new contract automatically started and I need to keep paying. You need to cancel all these bogus charges. Why don't you act like a professional business instead of a bunch of greedy crooks.

Now I have called customer service several times and am beginning to understand the scam:

Everyone at work here has a similar story. Different phone sellers, same rip off technique. My guess is that Windstream just resells AT&T service. While we were a customer with them and they were reselling the service Windstream (or every other phone reseller) has to pay AT&T for my service. My bill was around $400.00 per month for a T1 type service. I imagine they paid AT&T a lot of that. After I moved my service to Deltacom, Windstream kept billing me and giving excuses why I had to keep paying. So now that I finished the 3 year contract and dropped them they continued to bill and add $400 per month. That was 100% profit. I am sure they were not paying AT&T anything but still charging me full price. Just think if they do this to every customer who slips up on the precise cutting off of their service and beginning another you get to charge them several months with the only expense of answering the phone and dragging out the billing as long as possible. This should be illegal! I would be happy to help a lawyer build a class action law suit aganist Windstream and probably every other phone reseller.

Americans complain about high taxes, what about a industry that everyone has to use, ripping off every customer they can. I bet it legal. Billions of dollars in theft. Scumbags.
