I signed up for satellite TV for a rental home we own in Hawaii, on 10/19. Due to various promotions, rebtes, and my refusal of premium channels, I was told that after the initial installation fee, the service would be free the first 6 months and thereafter $43/month. I gave them my credit card. My November credit card statement showed DirecTV charges of $96.86. I called to complain and learned they had added premium channels I didn't want and were charging me for them. DirecTV refused to reverse the charge but only offered to apply it to future billings. Another $96.86 charge appeared on my January card statement. I called numerous times (4 or 5) requesting an itemized bill. Have never received one.in February I cancelled autoopay so they would no longer charge my card. Two weeks after that I even cancelled my credit card account because I didn't trust them not to charge the card even though I'd cancelled autopay. Then they tried to charge the card that had been cancelled! Then they added fees because the charges were declined!
They now say I owe $155.25 and will disconnect the services if I don't pay that amount by 4/11.
I mailed them a check for $48.43, offering to send that amount monthly if they will send itemized bills and agree to never overcharge me again. No reply - just threats.
