Unacceptable - 3 Mbps Internet Package

Like many of the other reviewers here, I became a reluctant Direcpath customer because they were the sole provider for my apartment complex. Before my move, I'd been paying $50 a month for 16mbps down and 6mbps up from another service.

I have the 3mbps capped package. I'd inquired about their other packages, but my inquiries were met with a silent "no" and a shake of the head from my apartment managers. I thank them for that.

During my several months with Direcpath, I have never hit 2.5 mbps, much less the maximum speed. Depending on the time of day I can get anywhere from 1 to 1.6 mbps down in small bursts, but those times are usually in the early, early mornings on weekedays - useless, for the most part.
During other times my internet typically caps out at. 8 mbps down and. 1 up. I've repeatedly called about these speeds and the issues they give me, but am usually told by the inept customer support that I should "reset my router and try another speed test." It's infuriating.

A well informed consumer is aware that the average internet speed for the US is about 5mbps. These speeds put us at 22nd in the world. Direcpath cannot manage even 5mbps in my region, and in most others (judging by reviews). I cannot stream from youtube, I can't upload a php file to my web server without a dozen second delay, and I can't watch movies on netflix, much less enjoy multiplayer gaming (netflix and gaming were mentioned on the flyer I received about direcpath when I moved in).

This company should be run out of every town they do business in. Terrible service, terrible product, perpetuated by their agreements that give them a monopoly in certain areas.
