Why so much for so little? - DirecPath Internet

I am just trying to understand why I pay $50 a month for a 10mpbs down and 1mpbs up connection, and this is considered to be the top of the line platinum package. This package is far from stellar, I appreciate having internet, but this price is a bit ridiculous. Charter Communications offers a 30mpbs down and 10mpbs up package for $30 for 12 months, and then goes up to $55. This is triple the connection speed for the same exact price. AT&T U-verse offers a very similar package, instead at 18mpbs speed for $25 12 months, and then up to $53 after that. One may say, well if you aren't happy with us then go get Charter or AT&T. Well that option isn't even available to me. I have no choice at the apartment complex I live in and am forced to use Direcpath. That is all fine and well, however, we are paying for a service that should be on par with the competition, at least somewhat. We are paying for a service that is 1/3 of what it should be. What choice do we have? If you don't like it then move somewhere else? That's not something that Direcpath would say I'm sure, but being that it is the only provider in the area, and the prices are what they are, you need not say it. This post is not meant to bash Direcpath and call them all kinds of names. I just feel as if there is always room to improve and make things better. The technology is there and available, we should be able to take advantage of that as hard working tax paying customers. Direcpath please do us all a favor and throw us an upgrade, we would certainly appreciate it and complain a lot less.
