I've always heard TWC was evil, but now I have my own story (though it doesn't sound like anything new... My Google search auto-filled " Time Warner Cable owes me money" before I was able to complete "owes").
The details? I cancelled my service on 2/20. My bank account was charged by TWC on 3/4. Gee. I called and was assured that a refund would be issued as soon as the billing period was over. It was also pointed out to me that my account wasn't actually cancelled until 2/25. Thanks, Customer Service Rep, for pointing out that your company's incompetence is the reason my account was charged for service I no longer have! But I digress...
I get the account statement on 3/10 that says I'll be issued a refund. Awesome! But alas, nothing.
On 4/3 I call. Am assured a check was issued to me on 3/15, and I should be receiving it within 2 weeks. Ok, I'm not happy, but I deal.
4/24 rolls around, still no refund. I call again, and immediately ask for a supervisor. The rep I'm talking to barely entertains the idea. I finally tell him what my complaint is in the hopes that he'll take me seriously enough to actually put me through to someone who can make something happen, but no, I'm placed on hold. He intermittently comes back on the line to tell me lots of inaccuracies about my account, such as when I was charged (he said it was before I cancelled, which it wasn't). I finally get a supervisor (I'm assuming) who profusely thanks me for my attention to this issue. He assures me that a check was written on 3/15, but I have to understand that there's a process, and I can't reasonably expect to receive that check until it's passed through every single TWC department there is. He agrees that it's not cool, but hey, that's how it is, right? He again assures me that I'll get my check "this week." With nothing left to do, we hang up.
It is now later than "this week, " and I still have not received my refund. I cancelled my service more than 2 months ago, and am still waiting for this horrible company to give me back the money they essentially stole from me. I made the mistake of having an auto-draft set up with my checking account... Shame on me!
I can only assume from the absolutely horrible reviews I keep coming across and the number of stories like mine, that TWC makes it's money exclusively on alienating its customers to the point that they drop the service, then charging said customers after they cancel. Look at that, they didn't have to provide any actual service, but they still got paid!
I will continue my attempts to get this refund! I refuse to let a ridiculous company make a profit off of me! For all those who don't have TWC: stay away! And for all those out there who have TWC now: take yourself off auto-pay, because it'll bite you in the butt at some point!
