Selling point widely misrepresented - GENIE OFFER FOR NEW CUSTOMERS

We signed up for Directv while shopping at Best Buy last year. Two selling points that swayed us was the savings vs Comcast and the new DVR that was coming out "in just a couple of week". When the system was being in stalled we asked the installer about the new DVR (which we were told would record up to 5 shows simultaneously) and he said he didn't have one with him, but to call in a week or two and they would get one out to us. I can now tell you that those statements are an out and out lie. We've since been told 1) that the "Genie" wasn't even available until Oct (a full 10 months after our install - and that's not true because a co-worker had a new install just a month after ours and they got the new and improved system and 2) that we had misunderstood what the salesman AND the installer told us. PLEASE ALSO know that they say the Genie is $300, BUT it costs another $45 to have it installed AND ANOTHER $99 PER ROOM. Our $300 investment quickly became $650... Needless to say, we'll live with the caveman 2 program recording system that we have and will cancel in 10 months when our agreement is up and go with DISH. Or, better yet, cancel and "re-up" and get the free Genie. Except for the clarity issue, Directv is no better and perhaps worse than Comcast in the customer service department. At least Comcast would give you a break on deals. At least they understood how seriously unfair it was to make current customers pay such an outrageous amount when new customers are getting the same thing for free!
