Acela train 2119 on 6/1 from NY to DC - passenger train service

I upgraded from the Regional train service to Acela service on 6/1 (from train 129 to Acela train 2119) because I had to be in DC on time for a dinner and I was told that the Acela trains get priority and are the most on-time. Well, it turns out our train took nearly double the promised time to DC. First, there were weather problems, then signal problems, that delayed our train — a trip that was supposed to take 2 hours and 40 minutes or so but ended up taking well over 5. But then, to my dismay, we waited another hour so that 5 northbound trains could leave Union Station BEFORE they let us arrive. How is that "priority service." It was so bad that the conductor came on the overhead and announced that he knew folks were frustrated but Amtrak had decided to delay us for 5 northbound trains and if we were unhappy we should email and see what they'll do for us. How is that service? Not someone will meet you or go see a ticket agent. Email. And for this I was charged $250 for an Acela ticket. Obviously, I missed my dinner. Heck, I could have taken the bus and been faster and it would have cost me less than $50. I demand a refund.
