We signed up for a free trip at the Lowe's Home and Garden show and were called because we won a free trip and had to attend a 90 minute work shop to claim our trip. At the time we did not know the name of the company—just American travel. We listened and decided that their travel services sounded like a good deal so we signed up. We were told we had 3 business days to cancel. We paid $6995 with our credit card and when we got home we looked up this company and found out they are a scam so we immediately called and canceled—sent the book back that would have cost us $100 to keep. After several days we were refunded all but $274 of what we had paid. They never told us they have an administrative fee for that amount.
All our efforts to get back the $274 failed so we ended up getting absolutely nothing for our time and the $274.
There was nothing free about the trip we had won so this was false advertising on their part—the cheapest free trip was a fly away vacation to one of 4 locations but we had to pay a $50 deposit plus room taxes for 2 nights.
