Ramada Vacations - Fort Lauderdale - Threatening Phone Calls - Ripoff Fraud Lauderdale Florida

In early 2000 we had purchased the Ramada Vacation package for $698 from a gentleman who guaranteed everything that was promised to everyone else for the Ramada Vacation/Cruise package. This package was sold and we were told that over the next 18 months we would pay the other $698 when we were ready to take the trip. Engaged at the time, it sounded like a wonderful opportunity for a trip after we were married.

We were very young at the time (22yrs old) and were not saavy to scam potentials, especially with vacations, and at the time was offered the same "one time deal" which we never should have purchased, but we did.

Of course, we fell into extreme financial hardship soon after. My wife's company left the country and she was unemployed and we ended up not being able to make the trip. Realizing that we would be eating the cost, we let the package sit in my office at home as a reminder not to make such purchases in a hurry. We figured we were taking the hit.

After that time period was up, we recieved a phone call from Ramada and they asked if we wanted to pay for the upgrade to keep the package active, and I had told no because of the circumstances we fell under, they asked me to verify that I understood that I would be out the money, and I did verify that was correct. I threw the paperwork away at that time and had to endure the life lesson of losing $698 dollars. That was a year ago.

My wife mentioned that we were recieving phone calls from Florida for the past three weeks on a nightly basis. I travel a lot for work and am not home much. However, I did recieve the phone call this evening.

It was a representative from Ramada Vacations claiming that I owed them another $898 because I did not take the packaged trip. When I explained that I was approached a year ago and told them that I was not taking the vacation and had the account closed, the person on the phone DEMANDED that I give my credit card number and give them money. I told him I would not do it, and he proceeded to threaten me with comments such as "we reserved the space for you already and you owe the balance" and "it would not be wise to not pay this immediately", I felt very threatened.in fact I asked if he was threatening me and the person said "I am just advising you to pay now. Hold on so I can authorize the charge." At that point I hung up the phone because I wasn't about to authorize anything.

At that point I went to the internet and typed in Ramada Vacations hoping to find their corporate number and instead found a link to this site. After reading what everyone has listed about this company, I am glad I didn't take the vacation or give them more money. I just wish I would have come to this site MUCH sooner so I would have known what I was getting into.

I just know I will get more phone calls on this from Ramada. I will threaten harrassment suits if they do call again.

Is there anything in the works on a Class Action Lawsuit against the company? If their is, please post and I will check back often.

If anyone has similar situations please let me know. If we all work together on this we can maybe put an end to this type of malicous behavior and slight of hand tricks from companies such as this.

Lastly to the kid on the phone that threatened me... I don't appreciate being threatened in my own home.
