Orbitz's price assurance program is extremely misleading.
I spent $5000 booked a trip for 10 people for a 5-night stay at bali island. Only one week later, the price listed on Orbitz dropped ~$50 per room per night, So I file a price assurance claim asking them to honor the lower price and send me a refund check of $1100. The customer service rejected my claim saying that price assurance only works when another customer also booking a trip for 5-night stay for 10 people with exactly the same check in/out dates. How is this likely to happend??? I can only get the price difference back unless I booked the trip night by night and room by room. This is ridiculous!!! I am going to file BBB claim on orbitz on this also.
It is very unlikely that there is another customer also booking a 5-night stay for exactly same 10 people. So there is no way I can get the price assurance unless I book the trip room by room, night by night, and Orbitz did not remind me this when I placed the order.instead, orbitz's price assurance link only say that a customer can always get the difference back if there is another customer getting a lower price. This attracts me to place the order on Orbitz because Orbitz makes me believe that if the price drops for the same type of room for the same date in the future, I can automatically get the price difference back.
