On the morning of 02JUL I found a motel with vacancies; the Coral Sands Motel. All other affordable motels were full due to the Independence Day Holiday. I was happy to find a Vacancy, but the owner was in the lobby giving her new employee the most unimaginable grief, in front of customers, and it took forever to get service. It was the most unorganized management, and it was just unbelievable.
I was told I had to give them a $20 cash deposit and that my room was $115.00, so I gave them $20 in cash and $115.00 on my debit card. They gave me the key, and I went to my room. I was just shocked at the condition of this room that they just charged me $115.00 for. The room was completely uninhabitable and a major health risk. The room was rancid. It had such a strong mold odor that it was just not tolerable. I just know there is copius amounts of mold behind the walls in that motel. The carpet was tathered and heavily soiled. The furniture was extremely old and falling apart. The portable air conditioner that was up over the bed had no face on it. The electrical wires were completely exposed and there was mold all in the components of the air conditioner. I didnt even bother to look at the bathroom, but at this point, one could imagine how putrid it probably was. The living conditions there are completely inhumane, and they have no business renting those rooms out, much less charging $115.00 a night.
To top things off, I immediately went back to the motel office to get a refund since I knew that I absolutely was not going to stay in that room. I was refused a refund! I spent no more than 5 minutes in that aweful room and they stole my money. I returned the key and all I got back was my $20 deposit. I had no access to that room at all and they absolutely would not refund my money. All because of a small white piece of paper that said, "no refund!" written in black ball point pen and very unoticable. It's a complete scam and the motel is so inhumane that it needs to be CONDEMNED.
