3 strikes, I'm out

I booked a flight 6 months in advance for my husband and I through Expedia from TX to FL for our honeymoon. A few months later, we were relocated to FL. I called Expedia to cancel the flights that we no longer needed. They made us aware of the $150 rebooking fee to use our credits (OK) but did NOT tell us that we had to stay with the same airline. When we tried to rebook, we were told we had to fly with AA and the cheapest flight would be $990 per person, plus $150 each to rebook, and it would be a 12 hour flight with two layovers. Delta had a nonstop flight with same point of origin and destination for $208. We just had to write off the $600 that we wasted by booking early through Expedia. Somehow, AA gets to keep the money and book the seats we never used, Expedia gets a commission and the consumer gets screwed. Strike one.

Then last week, my grandfather passed away. I was looking for the cheapest quickest way to get home, and found a great price on Expedia for a direct flight. I entered my credit card info, and a window popped up informing me that in the last 30 seconds the price of the flight I booked went up $90 and if I was okay with that, press Continue. I called Expedia, figuring my reason for booking might lend some sympathy-and therefore results-to the situation. I was wrong. They informed me that the airlines change ticket prices at their discretion and Expedia has nothing to do with that. Which may be true, but they were still advertising the flight for the original (cheaper) price. They were neither willing to budge on the price or offer any alternatives. Strike two.

Now, the last and final straw. I have a flight in 2 weeks time and (just for entertainment this time) checked Expedia for flight times and prices.By now I've had it up to here with Expedia's website and customer service reps, but wanted to see if the same price change would occur this time around. Sure enough, fantastic flight priced at $230 until you get to the check out screen, then the price shoots up to $370. Priceline.com, here I come! Or calling airlines directly. I will NEVER use Expedia again and will warn anyone and everyone of their trickery and lack of compassion and common sense.
