I am a senior citizen. My husband died in the UK and tickets were booked, cancelled and rebooked due to circumstances. I was owed a refund by Continental Airlines and was given two PIN numbers, over the phone, by their agent and told that there was no expiry date as this was MY money and that I only needed to quote these numbers to have the refund applied to future travel.
I have recently tried to claim this refund but have been told by the airline that these numbers do not exist, that they have no validy, I should have been issued with Travel Certificates (which I was not) and in any event the refund has expired. This is nothing short of Corporate theft. How dare they steal my money.
If anyone else has had this experience please let me know, I would love to hear from you as I am not done yet with ths airline and will take this all the way to Washington if I have to. They provide millions in corporate sponsorships but refuse to refund a paltry few hundred dollars to a senior citizen? How many other people have been ripped off like this and how much is this airline making from these "expired" refunds?
