I fell for this scam also. I called to cancell and was on hold for at least 20 minutes before someone finally spoke with me. They said they could not give a refund but I could give the package to someone else. I told them I would be disputing the charges with the credit card company.
When I receive my "travel documents" I sent the cancellation notice to Ramada. I also disputed the charges with the credit card company. Unfortunately they received my information too late so I had to pay.
I went to the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services website www.800helpfa.com. On this site you can file a complaint. I received a letter with instructions to send documentation to them. I sent my credit card dispute, the cancellation notice, correspondence I had with the company, reports from this website and comments from tripadvisor.com about the hotels. I received a FULL refund from Ramada within the month. This was a year after I had paid for it.
Try this and hopefully it will work for you also. If this agency receives enough complants about this company, perhaps they can shut them down!!
