Concord North Carolina would not allow me to cancel a reservation three days in advance they charged me $200.00

In September. My husband and I reserved a hotel room at the Howard Johnsons in Concord North Carolina. The reservation was Friday October 10th to Sunday October 12.

When it became apparent that we needed to cancel the reservation, my husband called the hotel first thing Tuesday morning Oct 7. The desk clerk indicated he did not speak very good english and my husband would have to call back at 12:30 pm.

As instructed, my husband, Jim contacted the hotel to cancel the reservation. My husband spoke to "TINO". Tino indicated that because there was a race in town (nascar at lowe's motor speedway) he could not cancel a reservation and we would have to pay for one nights stay totaling over $200.

Since I reserved the reservation on a credit card they were able to take my money. I have never heard of such a policy nor was I told of the cancellation policy when I made the reservation. This is total rip-off and I nor my many friends will never stay in a howard johnsons hotel again.

As an educated consumer I am filing this "RIP-OFF" report and my credit card company has been contacted to dispute the charge.
