My experience is exactly like that of report 217837. I agreed to take a different flight the next day and I accepted a voucher for a free flight in the lower 48 states, good for one year, limited seats. When I try to book a flight, the available dates are very few and scattered making it nearly impossible to plan a normal trip. And they keep on reminding me that I can convert it to $250 credit for a flight. It is quite obvious that is their intention - bump you off a flight to solve their problem and make it very difficult to take a free trip.
And hilariously, if you try to book a flight online it always shows a day available if it was before the current day.
I called the Customer Care and they immediately understood my complaint and reminded me I could exchange it for $ towards a flight. They offered to extend the date range for 25 days. They told me they were going to end these vouchers because it is so difficult to book these tickets. Can you believe it? They actually admitted they were useless. So I said that is deceptive and they disagreed.
I tried to get a flight from SFO to NYC over a 3 month period. Two departure days were available, July 4 and August 26. Two return days were available, August 22 and Sep 1.
