Gave my room away, then over charged my credit card

I made reservations on January 20,08, for February 29 & March 1st, checking out on March 2,08, at the Long Branch Hotel in Canton, TX. The reservations were for myself along with my 3 sisters who would be staying with me there. My reservations were made with Tony Lewis (hotel owner I was told by him). He gave me the total price of the room, which was $451.52, and told me that he would charge $225.77 (my deposit) on January 20,08, which he did, and that he would charge the remaining AFTER we checked in. He charged the remaining $225.77 on February 26,08, 3 days before we attempted to check in. I called him the day before we were to arrive to confirm.

I arrived at the Long Branch Hotel on Friday, February 29th to check in. Upon arrival, Tony Lewis, told me that he had made a mistake and had given my room away. He never apologized for his mistake, and when I got upset about it, he cursed me, and told me to get out of his f* hotel, and that I was just a spoiled b*. Then he called the police and tried to say that we were trespassing. He had the attitude that I had no choice but to take the room or be on the street, because all the hotels and B&B's are usually booked. He did offer me another room, which was smaller than the one we had reserved and not large enough for the 4 of us that were to stay there.

After he gave our room away, he told me that I could take the smaller room or he would refund my money, I chose for him to refund my money. At this point, he ran my credit card through and instead of giving me a credit, he charged me an additional $225, (I did not realize this until I got home) which posted on March 3,08, which brings this to a grand total of $677.31.

I have contacted the police about this and they talked to him, and he told them he would take care of it, but still has not. I have also talked with the Chamber and the Better Business Bureau. He does have a non-refund policy IF you cancel within a certain time, but I DID NOT cancel, he gave my room away, and had no other rooms available to meet my needs. This man is a scam artist. Not a good name for Canton.
