Stole 1,943.40 from my credit card, admits it was wrong and still hasn't repaid

In July I rented an apartment in London through Woogo, that I paid for in advance. Two months later an additional charge of $1,943.40 appeared on my credit card. When I called the company, they apologized and said they would refund the money immediately.

My credit card company said to wait for the check. AFter 6 weeks I filed a complaint with my credit card company. Two more months passed and my credit card company sent me a letter saying it had been too long and they were no longer responsible.

Meanwhile I continued to call Woogo customer care regularly. They always admit the charge is wrong. They have told me it was "credited to my bank" in January of but which bank or credit card they do not know. Finally in June they said they would send me a check. It is now November and though I call regularly still no check.

The woman in customer care said she has a list including ten other people with a similar complaint and she calls the New York office regularly to follow up. Still no check.
