I received a $1600.00 travel voucher from Ramada Plaza Resorts in March. I had recently moved from California and it was forwarded to my new address in Florida. I instantly put it aside thinking that it looks too good to be true. I found the voucher today and decided to call the number. The girl I spoke to was Maryellen, her badge ID is 2672. She was extremely nice and she went over all the perks with me. She then took my address so that she could send me a video and paperwork about what we had just gone over. She then informed me that I would have to use my credit card to put a deposit of 698.00 down to reserve my trip. I was also told that when I called to book that I would pay an additional 698.00 for my companion.
After explaining to her that I would like to wait until I get the information in the mail and do some research, she told me to hold and she would see what she could do to help me. Her boss got on the phone. I didn't get his name, he asked me questions like, do you trust Ramada? Do you trust the name Ramada? I told him that I had been in sales for 16 years and there is no way I will buy anything that I am forced to make a decision on immediately! He started to raise his voice at me and told me to be quiet so that he could speak and then he went in lenght about my insurance on my credit card and how well my credit card company would protect me.
In my mind I was thinking, why is he putting all of this on the credit card company. If Ramada was such a "stand up" company, why wouldn't they protect you. I proceeded to tell him that if this was legitimate that I'm sure Ramada would wait until I called back to confirm.
The boss then started yelling at me and told me that if I was in sales for 16 years, why couldn't I keep my mouth SHUT and listen to him! His language was very abusive.
I will NEVER do business with Ramada again and I will be sure to send an email to all my military counterparts to ensure Ramada is not used by them either!!!
I consider myself lucky to not have given them my credit card information after checking them out when I got off the phone. Nother but bad publicity!
