The "voucher" (cleverly disguised like an airline ticket) said she had also won a cruise on either Premier or Carnival. Didn't Premier Cruise Lines go bankrupt some time ago?
Anyway, so she was excited... And I being a savvy consumer (ALWAYS READ THE FINE PRINT), I did not see anywhere where there would be a cost involved. So I told her to go ahead and see what it was all about. She contacted them and must have been on the phone a good 15-20 minutes when I went to check on her. This so-called "voucher" was only a partial payment for the trip to visit this resort, as we would have to pay $698 each (that's $1398) to pay for the rest of the trip. When asked about the cruise, turned out the cabins were on the lowest deck (the Riviera deck on Carnival Lines) and of all things, an INTERIOR cabin. Talk about claustrophobic... But then the fun started more...
... This rep she spoke with started getting apologetic and offered her a free 3-day, 2-night stay at any Ramada Plaza Resort. Do you think we fell for it? Of course not! I then picked up the line and asked the rep who was in charge of their call center and that they (Ramada Plaza Resorts) were deceiving a lot of people in thinking that they had received something special. The rep was just doing her absolute best sales pitch... To get us to come there... And when my wife tried to hang up, all we could here was "I understand your question, but Ramada Plaza Resorts are the very best in vacation rentals." and this went on and on. Seemed like this poor girl had a rebuttal for every objection thrown at her. Finally, my wife just said that we weren't interested... And guess what?"but... But... Ramada Plaza..." Click. End of call. 26 minutes and 33 seconds. No trip. No cruise. All scam.
