Ramada Plaza Resort
698$ for luxury vacation, royalty treatment, plus Bonus trips ripoff

I got a certified letter in the mail from Ramada Plaza Resorts. Big names such as "Universal Studios", "Majesty Cruise Ships" and more, letting me know I have been chosen to receive 1600.00$ credit on this amazing promotion.

I called the number for curiosity purposes and did not intent on agreeing to anything unless it was completely free.

When I called, the agents used words and statements like: royalty treatment, opening brand new Ramada Resort, Anniversary promotion, lucky to have been chosen (due to travel history, financial information) Gold Key; luxury suites at hotel and cruise ship, private rooms with balcony.

Neglected to inform me of Time Share meeting. (This phone call took place yesterday, I am quite aware of this part) I specifically asked about the tour of the new resort and if this would be a Time Share Meeting. He responded NO, that the only thing Ramada is asking of us is to fill in a survey about how the trip went.

Neglected to inform me of the no cancellation policy, the only thing he informed me about, is that there is only one call, per household, per confirmation number shown on the certified mail piece, so I was not able to speak with my spouse about this (he was working at the time) I had to make a decision right away. Also included on this package is a free vacation to Las Vegas and Puerto.

After 1.5 hours on the phone, they pretty much said what else do you want, your getting a trip worth over 3000$ for the best deal of a life time. He also threw in 2 free passes to universal studios, as well as an additional bonus vacation of 3 days and 2 nights.

So finally, I told him I couldn't afford the initial 698$ to confirm. He then said, we can do 378$ for today, and 40$ every month for 6 months. I told him once again, I couldn't afford that, and he then put me on hold. Came back and said have set you up with 178$ initially, and then 87$ a month for six months. Before I had the chance to realize what he had just said, I was transferred to the authorization department.

She the repeated the whole package again to me and then neglected to bring up the 2 free passes to Universal Studios. I asked her about it and she said that the passes are only free if you attend an additional tour. I then said that the male lacked that information and I was very disappointed. At that point, I had a feeling that something was fishy. They told me that they had direct connections with my visa department and that they wanted to make sure they had the right number.

I kept telling them I wasn't ready to make a decision. So she proceeded asking me for the spelling on my credit card. I let them know what the correct spelling was and then she proceeded asking me my visa number. I told them again, I wasn't ready and they said that's fine, we just want to make sure that we have the correct information on file. So I told them the information, and they said that's right and welcome aboard. And that was it

I thought I may have done something good, but after reading posts about this promotion this is obviously a scam.

People have had nothing but hardships going on their vacation, along with upsets after upsets. Knowing this information before going on a trip is always a very bad feeling.

I'm not sure exactly where to go from here. I am going to contact the customer service number provided to try and get my money back. They already charged my account $230.40CAN before I had the chance to report them to my credit card company. Now, I cannot cancel my visa card if I want them to credit my account.
