I got a call from "Allen Matthew" employee # 71312 (he was definitely an Indian hearing his accent you can tell that straightaway) claiming I was eligible for $800 worth of airline vouchers and some free hotel nights.
Finally, he needed to verify who I was and asked for my bank account #. I refused to give it to him. He pressed hard about how he understands how there are scams on the web, etc. Finally, I told him my account number. He transferred me to his "supervisor". His supervisor was asking me a lot of details about where my bank is located and complete address of the bank. I was not confortable trusting him.
I could not find his company on the web. Also, he became pretty hostile once I started questioning about his company and why does he need all that secure information for verification. I asked him to send a mail with $800 and then i can verify whatever he needs. He backed off and was then blackmailing me about how he can give my banking information to everybody else. Needless to say I would not give him any more information. He hung up after that. I have informed my bank and they said its okay and we shall take care of any fraudulent online transactions but its really a pain... But plz. Never run into this kind of situation... Never believe anyone verbally.
* NEVER give your bank account number or any other details of your banking to anyone who calls you!
