Watch out... Don't give banking information!!!

I received a telephone call on my cell phone from a gentleman (?) with a very heavy Indian accent. He told me that I had been chosen by the government to receive an $8000.00 grant. I would never have to repay this grant and I was chosen due to my UNSTABLE financial status. I was told that I would receive Federal Documents in the mail, but I would have to give him my bank account # first. As I was holding on the line for some tracking # there was a lot of noise in the background and then silence. I refused to give him my information so he hung up on me.

This call came in as an UNIDENTIFIED NUMBER.
How did they get all of my information including my cell phone #, my home address and my banking information?
