My husband and I purchased a timeshare through Fairfield Resorts at Fairfield Seawatch Plantation in Myrtle Beach, SC. This is a very nice resort but even as an owner, it is nearly impossible to get a reservation when you want it. After my husband passed away, I contacted Fairfield to put my timeshare up for resale. To my surprise, I was told they could not help me!
This was not what we were told when we sat through their 1 and 1/2 hr (which turned into 5 hrs) spiel of sales tactics. We paid an enormous amount of money (over $40,000) and am now being told by numerous resale agencies that I am going to have to take a tremendous loss to get rid of it - like selling it for less than $10,000. I've had my timeshare on the market for three years now and there is no way I can unload this thing. I'm still paying my monthly maintenance fee for nothing.
Reservations must be made 13 months ahead of time, it your lucky you'll get something. Don't try to get reservations at any other resorts - it's impossible. They'll tell you they're booked no matter how far ahead you call. Can someone tell me how I can unload this worthless piece of deeded property??
