Complaint / Review
Fairfield Resorts
Ripoff deceived us

We, like so many others of you, have owned our timeshare for going on 6 years now. We have not been able to use the timeshare even once because of lack of availability, and the contradictory information we receive, depending on who we talk to. We have tried several times to make a reservation, but have been told we either do not have enough points and ARE NOT allowed to purchase or rent additional points (completely opposite of what we were told by our salesperson), or the timeshare is never available. We were told that we need to make a reservation a year in advance if we wanted to use our timeshare, and were told at one point that these timeshares are "really meant for retired persons, not young couples, who can make plans that far in advance".

WE were contacted by FAIRFIELDS to join upper management on a "party weekend" along with other unhappy timeshare owners to discuss how to better utilize our points, and to talk about problems and complaints. We were told that this would, in essence, be a gripe session to clear the air and make us feel better. When we went to confirm the reservation, we were told that what the first person had told us was not true, so we cancelled the reservation. We discussed it further between us and decided to go and just hear what they had to say. I was told that no reservations were available (not surprising, after they asked for my name). I called back again and spoke to a different person and was able to make a reservation. However, I received a phone call later UNinviting us and telling me that "we were not welcome at this or ANY party weekend". They didn't want us to "embarrass Fairfield or ourselves by causing a scene". We certainly had no intention of causing a scene. We wanted some answers (as we were initially told) by someone in authority as to why we can never use our timeshare, and why we felt we had been deceived by Fairfield. What they really didn't want was for any disgruntled owners to say anything negative about Fairfield Resorts when they are trying to sucker in more owners with their propaganda.

I have names and phone numbers of everyone I spoke to.

I certainly hope that with all of the complainants here in Virginia alone, we could attach to, or start, a multidistrict class action lawsuit against Fairfield before this gets any more out of hand.

Yes, we are unhappy with our timeshare. We have wasted thousands of dollars for nothing. We pay to have Fairfield rent the timeshare to others, but never to us.
