Horrid Customer Service

Three days after booking a trip six months out we received news that an immediate family member was terminally ill. He is expected to pass in the next six months and we are not prepared to travel out of the country if we can be home during this time.

I called Orbitz and said we'd even be willing to postpone the trip until later and the woman I spoke to said I just shouldn't worry about it and go. Ummm, no not when someone is dying lady. She told me that she'd offer a $50.00 voucher for a future trip... Although the one I've paid for is worth $2500.00. I told her I'd call back.

Later I called Customer Service to see about changing the trip to a year out and the woman I spoke with said I had to book the hotel separate of the flights. This would cost me $2000.00 on top of airfare. SERIOUSLY?!? When I asked her about the price assurance program they had she continued to repeat herself and finally agreed to match the hotel prices... Only to tell me it would cost $500.00 to make sure it matched up. When I asked to speak to her supervisor she put me on hold for ten minutes, then picked up and disconnected the call.

We wanted to make things work with Orbitz, but their inability to work with customers and the lack of service in their customer service department is nothing short of despicable.

There's NO doubt we will do no business with them in the future.
