Ridiculous policies on changes to a reservation

I booked a hotel for three nights. I had a change of plans the night before and needed to change my hotel stay to two nights instead. However, Priceline's stupid system and policy does not provide such option! The only option they have, as bizarre as it can get, is to cancel the entire reservation and re-book which would cost me the cost for one night as penalty. The reason they gave was that the deadline to cancel for free was noon on the day before check-in. Right now, I am holding the hotel's cancellation policies in my hand right now as I am writing this review. No such policy exist on the part of the hotel. I have spoken to the hotel staff here. They would be happy to do it, but they can't because Priceline stands in the way! This is ridiculous. And to insult me even more, when I called Priceline again, armed with facts on the hotel's policy - the truth, I was told that the cancellation fee would be two nights stay now... Whao... Good job in gouging me one night's stay...
