Poor customer service! I felt completely scammed and undervalued as a customer

I had the worst possible experience with UA, and I'm super disappointed because my gym time is extremely important to me. Roughly a year ago, I moved to the area and signed up for a membership. They were extremely pushy about getting to me sign a contract, and it was vital for me to go month to month because I was not sure how long I was going to be in the area. Finally, we agreed on a rate. The were also extremely pushy about the tanning, which was something I was not sure about, so, they gave me a card, of which I still have, that gave me 30 days to try the tanning services.

I never used the beds. Not once. About 3 months ago, I was looking over the statement for my credit card and saw UA had been charging it every month. They were also charging my bank card, so I called assuming they were accidentally double billing me. When I called, I they claimed they were charging my credit card for tanning services. I still have not received any firm answers for them. Apparently, my contract had tanning on it, however, I EXPLICITLY stated I did not want tanning, therefore, they pushed the 30 day trial card on me. I have been paying for tanning since day one. I should have watched my credit card bill better, I admit that, but it felt so tricked and deceived. Why would they give me a trial card if I was already paying for it???

I have been trying to solve the issue for months, and no one can help me. I get redirected and redirected and corporate is a JOKE! I am through. I am canceling my membership and warning everyone I know not to do business with them. The sad part is that I'm not the only person I know that has had serious problems with them. A good friend of mine was always double billed, another had the front desk offer to watch his expensive sun glasses and when we came back for them after the workout, they had been stolen. Their excuse: you should not have left them at the desk. THEY OFFERED!

If they were any sort of an honorable business and wanted to keep my business, they would refund me for the tanning. If they had treated me with respect, I would have probably stayed with them for a long time. I'll never go back.
