When looking for a company to make trading pins for my son's baseball team, I came across the web site tradingpinsunlimited.com. I had received quotes from several other companies but was price shopping and was under a time restraint.
We had a delay in the ability to place the order because we were waiting for funding from sponsors. Being a first year team, we did not have the money to cover these expenses in team funds. We were well aware that we would have to pay for a rush fee in order to receive our pins in one week. Most places were charging $2.00 or more per pin for rush orders. So when I came across tradingpinsunlimited.com, I was very happy and immediately contacted them. On their web site it states in numerous places, some with flashing words highlighted in yellow, "Guaranteed lowest prices! If you find a cheaper price we will beat it by taking an additional $25.00 off the lowest price!".
I contacted them and submitted a quote request.in the email that they sent back to me it stated (this is copied directly) "Thank you for choosing Trading Pins Unlimited we "guarantee" the lowest prices or we will beat any competitor by an additional $25.00 off
the lowest price. That is our promise to you!"
They were fully aware that this was a rush order and quoted me a $75 rush fee. However their quote came back at $891.20. The lowest quote I had received so far was $500.50 for the exact same pins.
When I contacted them to place the order, fully expecting that they would honor their "guarantee" I was informed that they would not match any quotes. The owner, Sheila, never even asked me about the other prices I had received. She just flat out stated that she would not match any prices. I questioned why they advertised this on their web site and in the email I received. She informed me that they will not match prices during the "rush" season. I argued that there were no stipulations, blackout dates or exceptions listed on the web site nor the email I had received. They were well aware that I needed a rush order and the offer was still given to me via email. No matter what I said, she would not honor their "promise" to me.
The funny thing is after all of this, they have now placed a stipulation on the bottom of their web site with blackout dates for price matching. This was not there yesterday when I placed the order and Sheila admitted that. I have copied and pasted a copy of yesterday's web site that does not have the exception listed.
Not only is tradingpinsunlimited.com providing false advertisement, the service was horrible! I was laughed at and spoken to rudely. Not only did she speak down to me, she bashed her competitors and their business practices. On top of that, it was like pull teeth getting the art work for the pins. If you have artwork already for the pin, you simply submit it to them and they create a proof of your pin. I submitted the pin design I wanted and was sent a proof with a completely different pin. I submitted the artwork again and asked that they make the exact same pin and once again I was sent a proof with another completely different pin. I don't know how hard it is to just copy what I sent, all the work was done for them. I sent it again and after not hearing back from them, I called them and this is when all the above started. I would never do business with the company. Buyer BEWARE!!!
