When approaching contract renewal, salesperson agreed to a term of 16 months for $279 and said that written contract would be available at the gym location. LA Fitness charged my credit card. When I went to obtain the renewal contract, they didn't have a contract, but had charged my credit card $279 - the terms of the renewal according to the person at the front desk were for a period of 14 months only.
When the dispute was brought to operations manager, she would not credit my credit card statement. I placed a dispute with my credit card company and in the end LA Fitness would not grant a credit, stating that the contract was for the initial 18 months and for the 14 month renewal. No direction was given from LA Fitness regarding cancellation of renewal, if desired. LA Fitness clearly has some unsavory sales practices.
