During the summer of I purchased a window air conditioning/heating unit. Approximately two months later the unit began to freeze up. I contacted the store manager for the unit to be serviced and fixed. He in turn told me that a service man would come out promptly.
The service man never showed up. I then contacted the corporate office with my concern. It was then relayed back to the store manager. The second time a service man did show up. He didn't take any tools out of his vehicle. He entered the house and looked at the unit and determined it was due to the crack in my window. Even though knowing that this was not the cause I still sealed the crack in the window.
When not satisfied with the results I contacted the corporate office again. At this time, I was put onto a three way call with the store manager and the corporate worker. The store manager and I ended up in a heated discussion. He was under the impression that I was only suppose to receive 70% of the purchase price of the window unit. I felt I was to receive 100% refund due to the inadequate performance from the factory.
This period of time lasted several months. During this discussion the store manager accused me of just wanting to return the product after the summer season for a full refund. After many wasted hours of waiting for service men, conversing over the telephone, and not getting fair and equal treatment I made the decision to just return the product for a 70% refund. This is very unethical, unprofessional, and dishonest. So, anyone who thinks they may buy something from Sears may want to take another approach.
