I Contacted Pro Resources About Their Services. It Sounded Scammy To Me

I was currently job hunting, as I was laid off from my job of 25 years this past January. So, I bought the Savannah Sunday newspaper to read the help-wanted ads.

In the paper were numerous ads for jobs that were supposedly available. Most of these jobs boasted of paying anywhere from $13-$15 an hour, with "no experience necessary". Since I was looking for something new, and since I didn't have much experience in any other field, this all sounded good to me. So, the following day, on January the second, I called some of these numbers to inquire about some of these job listings.

I immediately reached Pro Resources. The woman that I talked with made everything sound great, and almost immediately, scheduled me for an appointment. She then told me that they charged $185 for their "services" and that I needed to bring that with me whenever I came to their office for my appointment... Which was less than ninety minutes away.

Almost immediately, I got a bad feeling about this, so I asked my family and friends what they thought of this. None of my family and friends thought that this was a good idea. To tell you the truth, neither did I. After they all confirmed my suspisions, I called Pro Resources back to cancel my appointment.

The woman that I talked to seemed very perterved that I canceled my appointment. She told me that I must not have been serious about changing my life and changing my career. After all, if I was really serious, then I would have kept my appointment. So, against my better judgement, I allowed her to talk me into rescheduling my appointment. Almost immedaitely, she scheduled me for the earliest appointment possible, which was at 9:00 the following morning. Again, she made it a point for me to bring $185 with me.

I decided to do some research on this. I went to their website. I learned that they never charge the employers anything because they "realize how important it is for companies to keep their costs down". So, their solution is to charge the poor soul that has been out of work $185? This really infuriated me! It seems to me that if someone is out of work and is looking for a job, then most likely, they can't afford to pay $185! So, once again, I decided that this was not for me. About six months ago, I talked to someone that also had an appointment with Pro Resources. They also told him that they charged $185. Since he had also been out of work, he told Pro Resources that he didn't have the $185, but he would allow them to take the money out of his first paycheck whenever he got a job. They refused, and told him that he had to pay everything up front. If this doesn't sound like a scam to you, then I don't know what does!

This time, I decided not to even give them the courteousy of calling and cancelling my appointment. I just decided not to show up. Two hours later, my phone was ringing off the hook. It was Pro Resources, wanting to know where I was. This ought to tell everyone that this is not a legitimate service. After all, there are lots of websites and organizations that do this for free, so why do I—or anyone else—need to pay $185? Stay away from these people. Thank God I followed my instincts and didn't fall prey to their schemes!
