A rip off a day keeps this phone company playing

I used MCI as a long distance and phone-card service for several years. Recently, I switched the long-distance service, but mainatined the MCI phone card.

Approximately 2 weeks later, I received a letter statiting that my bill was past-due and I was being cancelled by MCI.

This was untrue, and I was able to trace the check number back, revealing that MCI had cashed the check. They denied this, multpile times, which required my funding a copy of the check to send to MCI. Even after having done this, there were occasions which they denied receiving payment.

It was very frustrating to talk to these representatives, and getting a a "manager" on the line was impossible. Additionally, they would not give me a name, refernce number or extension by which to refer my previous conversations.

Therefore, it was like starting anew with each phone call. They eventually re-instated the account, which became the hassle of a life-time.

I should have simply let the card go. I received late payment threats, and cancellations several times, even though I was paying by electronic check, and had evidence each and every time that MCI had received the check, and had cashed it.

I finally smartened up and cancelled the account. Apparently MCI has some issues with keeping track of their finances.
