My incident is very similar to the previous victim's incident. I advertised my car in my local newspaper whereby a representative from Longwood Industries saw it & called me. He advised me that I was asking a fair price for my vehicle and that Longwood Industries offered a money back guarantee that I would sell my vehicle from one of their two websites. The only e-mail messages I ever received were from, apparently, the Nigerian Fraud RIng, at least that's what my bank told me when they notified me that the cashier's check the prospective buyer sent to me by FedX was counterfeit.
I thought it was strange that they kept delaying the transaction so I was wary & suspicious. I had already decided that I wasn't going to take my car off the market until after the check cleared, even though it was an international cashier's check. They wanted me, also, to send the overpayment to a shipper, but I refused.By the time, they finally got around to sending this counterfeit check to me & I had to wait 10 days to see if it would clear, I had missed my 10-day window in which I could even be considered to be eligible for a refund on the money back guarantee policy. It sounds deliberate to me that this is how they keep from issuing refunds.
I have contacted them about this matter by several e-mail messages but they won't budge. They are standing behind the fact that their refund policy is on their invoice that was sent to me & also on their website. I never read it on their website because I never looked at it until after I paid for my ad. I didn't read it on my invoice, and who does anyway, because it is disguised. They call it "Buyer's Right To Cancel". I wasn't interested in cancelling; I was only interested in the money back guarantee after the 90 days. I was never told by the rep who initially called me that there was a 90 day waiting period, much less the 10 day window in which you have to request the refund, directly after the 90 days of the ad, otherwise you're ineligible. When I placed my ad, I called & had a different rep place it. She didn't tell me anything about the refund policy until I asked. She then only told me about the 90 days; she never mentioned the 10 day window.
