On May 9, in response to a 10 day shutoff notice from PECO Energy, I called there service dept. I was Instructed to pay at least $376.05 to prevent getting my power turned off. I paid $400.00. A few days later I received yet another 10 day shutoff notice prepared the same day I made the payment. This time they were requesting $573.31. I was confused and was going to contact PECO to discuss this situation. However a few days after I received my regular bill which informed me of no impending shutoff and that $352.20 was due June 6th.
On May 23rd my roommate called me to inform me that there was a red notice on the mailbox and that the power was out. I had to leave work (in quite a rage) and spent two hours on the phone with PECO.
The first man I spoke to, insisted that I did not contact them on the phone. He danced around the facts, not telling me how it was that they received the payment If I did not contact them. I have a confirmation number to prove it. Anyway... After denying the fact that there was a possibility that PECO made a mistake. I requested to speak to his supervisor. He put me on hold where I waited for twenty minutes. So I called back.
The next person was equally numb to my situation. I paid the sum they claim was past due, and the reconnection fee. I was told that now I could expect to have my power restored within 72 hours. I asked if there was anything she could do to help my situation, remove the reconnection fee or speed up the process of getting my power turned back on. "No" she said. So I got my second confirmation number and hung up.
Basically I am stumped how I can pay the amount I was instructed on May 9th. Get a second shutoff notice. Then get a second Bill showing that I am ok till June 6th, and have my power cut 5/23. Now I will lose my deposit and be expected to pay another. Total Scam! PECO is a Bully!
