Never give your credit card number for future charges. This is the situation with Startec, my mother an elderly, entrusted the customer service her credit card account. Every month, my mother continually receives charges for using the long distance calls that were legit. However, it came to a point that my mother could not afford to pay for monthly charges, so she cancelled the account with Startec. It took several months before it got cleared, we reported this to our bank that we are getting tax charges for retaining Startec's account but the tax charges keeps coming although the account was cancelled. We had sent a cancellation letter to stop charging taxes to my mother and they have to send us the refund for these charges but to no avail. We reported it to BBB, even so, BBB did not get a response back from them. It was tough to let them stop charging my mother's credit card for taxes. Per Startec, they will investigate the matter but it took them awhile. Startec already sent a letter to inform us but they were still charging my mother.in conclusion, Startec never refunded my mother and finally cancelled the account but it took Startec so long to stop charging the card. This is what we have to go through with Startec.
