I paid for a $1 credit report from Score Sense. At the time, I was offered an option to pay an additional $9.95 to obtain all 3 credit scores... Which I declined. I was never given any information about a monthly membership or anything else. I thought I was paying for a one time credit score. Imagine my surprise when I found a debit on my account oif $19.95 approximately one week later.
I contacted the company only to be told that the charges could not be reversed and that I should have contacted them within the first 7 days to cancel my "membership, " a membership I did not know I had. I told the man I was speaking to that they better remove my information and I better not have my account debited again next month or I was going to be royally pissed. He promised he would cancel my membership.
I made this call today, so I hope there will be no further problems with Score Sense. I have good credit. I do not need to check my credit score every month.in fact, the last time I checked it was 3 years prior to going to the Score Sense website. However, given all the other consumer complaintss I have read, I will remain wary for the next 2 or 3 months.
I find it interesting that my complaint about Score Sense very much matches the complaints of the other reports on this site. Score Sense is a rip-off and they engage in deceptive advertising.
Just think... If they collect $19.95 from me and and thousands of other people, how much money have they taken collectively from an unknowing public? Shameful!
