A Letter that I sent to them as a last resort before an attorney gets involved:
We used UO Students through Moving Helpers website in October. You were highly recommended. You loaded the truck that was heading to Illinois from Oregon. But thats as far as the good news goes.
Upon opening the truck in Illinois, the first thing we notices was the oil on the floor of the truck. You packed the lawnmower by stacking it on its side - causing the oil to leak from the engine. It sat next to the dining table that was wrapped in a moving blanket that became soaked in oil. The dining table still smells like oil. Not even sure if the mower will work again as the oil leaked through the entire engine. And no, the mower did not have a leak. Any person with common sense knows that you do not stack any sort of engine on its side.
You stacked heavy items on top of plastic tubs, destroying 5 tubs and damaging a variety of items in the tubs, you stacked bikes without fastening them and two of the bikes are damaged - one fell onto the entertainment center that now has a huge gash in front, a dining room chair and dining room bench seat also received damage vinyl was torn. The stainless steel refrigerator was heavily scratched on the front. Total loss and damage - $1300.
We DID provide you with adequate packing materials. You had more than enough blankets and pads. Every-time you asked for more - they were provided to you. And no they were not sheets - we gave you blankets AND pads. If there was any concern for ANY of the packing materials provided, you never mentioned it. You said you were the professionals with years of experience so if something was not qualified to be good enough you should have been the ones to say something and not just use it. You also declined to use any of the rope that you requested so NOTHING was tied up. It was a horrible packing job no matter how you look at it. We trusted you and your reviews and we were misled.
I have tried to make contact numerous times but have received no reply. I have contacted the Moving Helpers website but they have taken no responsibility. I have filed a formal complaint with the Better Business Bureau but their attempts to contact UP Student Movers have also gone unanswered, but as a result you now have a an F rating. I most recently filed a complaint with the Oregon Department of Justice Consumer Protection division.
