A T & T Wireless
Ripoff fraudulent misrepresentation, absence of customer service, extortion There must be help available to defend against this kind of disservice

My wife's cellular phone was no longer functioning correctly, so she went to an AT & T representative to exchange her phone. The sales rep told my wife that it would be in her best interest to take posession of three (3) new cellular phones, one to replace her broken phone, one to replace my cell phone, and an additional third phone. My wife told the sales rep that we did not need three phones, but he explained that we could just store the third phone in case we ever needed it, and it would enable him to earn a commission without costing her anything further... As long as she signed a new contract to extend our AT & T wireless service. My wife reluctantly agreed. The sales rep told her that within twenty four hours, the new cell phones would be activated, and the service to our old phones would be discontinued.

These "new" phones were not nice "flip" phones, or in any way nicer than our existing cell phones, but we were content to just have our wireless service. After 48 hours, no service had been activated to the new phones, and my wife was still not able to use her broken phone. Since we were about to drive across three states to visit family, I called AT & T wireless to ask that my new phone be activated so that we had some guarantee of service while we were on the road.

My new phone was finally activated. After we returned home, my wife still had no active phone service, so she took the three phones back to the AT & T sales rep who had initiated the sale... And discovered that he had been fired.

The next day, I went into an AT & T store and demanded some service... To which the sales rep slowly looked into my needs and said that he could re-activate my old phone and that he would need my wifes old phone to re-activate it. "It's broken... The keys stick when you use it" I told him. "We could sell her a new phone if she signed a new contract" he said, around a yawn. I told him to just forget it and that we would switch to another company. He looked at his computer screen and told me that we had over a year left on our service. I asked him if we had signed a contract extension, and he said that he showed a "verbal" agreement to extend the contract. I said "you mean that a billion dollar corporate entity like AT & T relies on "verbal" agreements to contract extensions... I cannot believe this".

And now we have been billed an additional separate 'costlier' billing for 'analog' service on the "new" phone that I had used on our vacation IN ADDITION TO OUR REGULAR SERVICE CHARGES for our two old phones.

You must know that, for me to take the time to look this website up and log my extreme dissatisfaction, that I am upset over this extortion, beyond any lack of service I have ever received at any other time with any other company. There must be help available to defend against this kind of disservice.
