While magicJack makes many questionable claims, one of the most flagrantly false is "keep your phone number". They cannot port my number, and from all of my discussions with them, I seriously doubt that they can port anyone's number! If you buy their product thinking that you'll keep your old land-line number, forget it, it will not happen! As for their other claims and promises, the only one that I can attest to as being absolutely true is their help-page statement that "... Any answer you can get from chat is here (on the printed FAQ pages)".
Believe it, its the truth. Their trained and disciplined parrots are reading to you exactly the same information included in the FAQ's... Not a word more, not an idea more, not a suggestion more. Bottom line is... If you fit into their catagorized targeted mold of users... And there are enough out here to make them a fortune... They have attained their goal and made their millions. For the rest of us with a tad more intelligence and expectations, they don't give a $917. (not geared to or capable of dealing with it) I really hope to see a good, reputable, service-oriented company evolve with a similar technology to blast this fly-by-nighter out of the water.
