Linksys technical support scam

I bought a brand new AT&T device to displace a faulty older-model 17 December. Upon alternative the Linksys Product WRT54G wouldn't link or purpose. Our child named Linksys and was informed the design was over per year old with no longer under guarantee and he or she would need to purchase techsupport. I named the next evening and talked with Simon. He explained he'd to determine when the my Linksys was broken. He went me thru step-by-step and that I was attached to the web via the modem. I mentioned I'd a notebook which must be designed. He explained at hand within the handle of the computer to him. I complied and he created some modifications towards the pc and stated he had a need to seek advice from his boss concerning the modem. While he delivered, he explained I'd must have some application e.G. Motorists, and computer marketing that will improve and create my pc secure from external interference. I told him that once I was linked, when I was, that was adequate for me personally. Then he contended I'd to truly have the pc marketing and that I could be billed $199.00 for this procedure. I had been suspicious and understood anything prior to the alternative of the AT&T device performed just good. After I seemed more hesitant, he abruptly started to remove all of the configurations, accounts, and necessary data required for connecting towards the web via the modem. I expected him why and he explained my Linksys wasn't under guarantee and he might just provide the $199.00 pc marketing. He'd explained nothing was wrong with my existing Linksys Modem, but I'd to truly have the pc marketing, with that, all info and my link with the web was removed and disconnected. This selfish work of vengeance along with a fraud to market an item different in my experience, is unquestionably bad company and really should be researched and stopped. Exist no regulations to safeguard seniors from unscrupulous computer thieves
