When we purchased our home we decided to purchase the additional home warranty coverage for the pool. Ever since we moved in the filter control panel has been difficult to read. It's in the master bedroom and it's the only place you can set the timer for the pool filter... There is no control panel outside, just a master on/off switch.
Our pool cleaning company looked at it for us and said it needed repaired so we called AHS. They sent out a contractor for $60. He finally showed up after canceling twice on us. He couldn't even figure out how to operate the panel because he couldn't read it. He said it definitely needed replaced, wouldn't be a problem and would call it in.
We received a call from AHS later saying they wouldn't cover the repair because the contractor said you could operate the filter from outside the house. We called the contractor to see why he said that and he never returned our calls. He had $60 in his pocket for a 5 min service call so why should he.
After arguing with AHS they agreed to send out another contractor. Same scenario. Came out and couldn't figure out how to work the panel. Said we needed to replace it. Received a second call from AHS saying they wouldn't cover the replacement as this contractor said it was still operable and we could control the filter from outside. We argued that they hadn't seen our house and either the contractors were lying or they were lying to us. Never got ahold of either contractor again.
Tried canceling the warranty since they are obviously useless and was told I wouldn't get any money back because we only have a few months left on the contract and they charge a processing fee to cancel it. They are truly ripping new homeowners and sellers off as they don't back up what is printed in the warranty coverage booklet. What a business. They take your money and you don't get anything in return!
Please save your money for the repairs you'll have to make on your own.
