This past month, my mother recieved her phone bill with approximately $35 worth of unknown calls to Australia and $14.95 worth of voicemail services that she never even received or asked for. After calling her phone company, she learned that it was Integretel that put the charges on her bill and that somehow, her new daughter-in-law from Russia was the name listed for the approval of services. After getting total denial from her daughter-in-law and with not knowing her, my mom immediately became suspicious of her and her intentions.

I became suspicious as well and began to do some checking. I learned that it was Integretel that was scamming BOTH my mom and her-daughter-in law. Just goes to show that these scams don't just hurt your wallet but can hurt relationships as well. (My sister-in-law had better appreciate me)...

Anyways, I did find out that there is a third party block that can be added to your phone. It is a free service but you have to call and ask for it. I did ask Verizon why this block isn't automatically added to the service since there seems to be so many of these scams going around. Verizon told me that they are supposed to ask everytime you sign up for services or call them for any reason. I told Verizon that I have called several times and never once has anyone asked me if I would like a block on my phone... She was willing to apologize, (sigh) but really... Does THAT do any good???
