After a modular home purchase ($207,000 worth!) gone bad, we sought legal help and advice. Home flooded, basement full of cracks... We stopped our project before house was set and sought help for damages on home we never even lived in.
Mr. Joseph Sefa of Davison, Michigan promised he could handle things with a couple letters. He checked the licensing of basement contractor and said Lansing confirmed this man's builder's license. Lo and behold we (1.5 years later) found out the guy DID NOT have a license.
Mr. Sefa took $850 up front, lied to us about license check, sent letters to involved parties that were filled with spelling mistakes and wrong information and would not give our money back.
The contractor skipped town with $27,776 of our money! Another firm (Winegarden, Shedd of Flint) provided letter after letter with no results then dropped us when we DEMANDED a court date before we lost everything we owned. All we got was a legal bill for $5,500!
We are still working on the completion of this house project (two years going)! Read more soon under manufactured/modular home rip offs. We went all the way to the attorney general and nobody has "time".
